AUG. 9

Pho New York, 6420 Horsepen Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility doesn’t have a person in charge working; employees are unable to recite required temperatures for foods; facility doesn’t have a certified food protection manager (certificate is expired); facility doesn’t have written procedures for cleaning up vomit/diarrhea; temperatures of beef pho and chicken pho are elevated; no date marks found on brisket, open package of meatballs, open tofu or cooked chicken; a container of egg roll mix is sitting on the floor during prep; interior of three-door refrigerator is dirty; mop sink isn’t working.

AUG. 10

Tsaocaa (Tsao Cha), 6996 Forest Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperature of chicken in make table is elevated because it is stored above the container level; sweet potato mix and milk base are not date marked; concentration of sanitizer in three-compartment sink is too high; chicken improperly thawing on drain board.

AUG. 11

Another Round Bar & Grill, 7515 Brook Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: mold/mildew found on shield of ice machine; there is a gap between bottom of back door and the floor; observed grease buildup on fryers, fryer basket and other cooking equipment; observed debris on gaskets and racks in units; dirty water found in container for sauces.

Subway, 3606 Nine Mile Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: hand soap dispenser is broken in kitchen and men’s restroom; temperature of meatballs in hot well is too low because the hot well wasn’t turned on; observed fruit flies throughout the kitchen; several water sources are leaking onto the floor leaving pools of water that are harboring flies; cutting boards on make tables are stained and heavily scratched; there is a hole in the walk-in cooler door; a light fixture in the walk-in cooler has exposed wiring and is missing a bulb; observed leaks at three-compartment sink faucet and piping underneath sink; walk-in cooler ceiling and fan guards are dusty; observed dried food debris on walls of dish room.

Melito’s, 8815 Three Chopt Road – No violations reported during a follow-up inspection.

AUG. 14

Target, 4521 South Laburnum Avenue – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: dish machine isn’t reaching the required temperature.

AUG. 16

The Mantu Market, 7510 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: a food handler is drinking from an uncovered beverage container while in the kitchen; hand sink near raw meat case doesn’t have paper towels and the soap dispenser isn’t working; hand sink near three-compartment sink is not operational (water is turned off and items are being stored in the sink); temperature of chicken kabobs removed from the grill is too low; several large containers of cooked meat, rice and beans are not date marked; temperature of potato mix is elevated because of improper cooling methods (covered and stored in prep unit); single and prep cutting boards are heavily scratched and stained; observed dried food debris buildup on fryers, bread making equipment, storage racks inside walk-in cooler and in prep units; observed buildup of food debris and grime on floors and walls; ceiling panels and vents are dusty.

Panera Bread, 11703 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperatures of hummus, chicken, slaw, eggs, deli turkey, mozzarella and onions in two make tables are elevated; these units are not maintaining foods at the proper temperature; temperature of cream cheese in small refrigerator near toaster is elevated; this unit has a buildup of ice; observed several small flies on wet mop at the mop sink; wall is soiled behind and under dish machine; observed scum on floor drain under dish washing equipment; ceiling is dusty around vent in bakery area; there is food splatter on wall at the soup wells.

Target, 11290 West Broad Street – No violations reported during a routine inspection.

AUG. 17

New Hunan Gourmet, 3107 Mechanicsville Turnpike – The following violations were reported during a follow-up inspection: dirty dishes found in hand sink (hand sinks are for handwashing only); imitation scallops are being sold but the menu states scallops; egg cartons are being reused throughout the kitchen; racks in walk-in cooler are rusty; cardboard is being reused throughout the kitchen; observed dried food debris and grime buildup under and behind equipment and underneath wok station; ceiling tiles are stained.

AUG. 18

Family Secrets Restaurant, 7103 Brook Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: an employee breaded raw meat and changed gloves but did not wash hands before moving to prep food; hand sink doesn’t have hand soap; paper towels are jammed in the holders; buckets found stored in hand sink; steaks incorrectly stored with ready-to-eat items in reach-in; raw eggs incorrectly stored over corn bread in walk-in; dish machine has 0 ppm sanitizer; observed pink and black mildew on shield of ice machine; pork chops improperly thawing; an employee is wearing bracelets while cooking and prepping.

Chanello’s Pizza, 10166 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: food found inside hand sink at dishwash area (hand sinks are for handwashing only); observed dried food debris on can opener blade; temperatures of tomato, lettuce, marinara cups and bacon cups in small prep unit are elevated; this unit is not maintaining foods at the proper temperature; several pizza pans are bent and in disrepair; observed heavy buildup of flour, food debris and grease on all wire storage racks, fan grate system in walk-in cooler, inside pizza make table, inside all hand sinks, and on pizza oven; there is a leak under three-compartment sink basins; cold water handles at back hand sink aren’t working; observed condensate waste pipe from walk-in cooler draining into a bucket (person in charge states that the bucket overflows onto the floor and this is causing mold on the floor); there is a hole in the wall behind the dry goods storage rack; heavy mold buildup found on floor under dry racks in dishwash area; observed grime and food debris on floors, walls and ceilings throughout facility and around grease traps and plumbing pipes.
