Dave Bautista Talks ‘Mortal Kombat 1’ in New Behind

After that trip down memory lane yesterday with the new Mortal Kombat 1 trailer, WB Games and NetherRealm have released a new behind-the-scenes video featuring Dave Bautista playing the game ahead of its September 19th release.

“Obviously, my voice is gone now from screaming ‘Mortal Kombat’ all day,” says Bautista during the gameplay session. “But I love this because it directly connects me to my past. So it’s more personal and feels more gratifying.”

Bautista elaborates, saying that growing up, his favourite character was Liu Kang because of Kang’s bicycle kick, and because he was able to morph into a dragon for his famous Mortal Kombat II fatality. “I like Scorpion now because I just want to hear him say ‘Get over here!’ (laughs).”

While Bautista isn’t in Mortal Kombat 1 (that we know of, at least), longtime fans of the series will finally see Jean-Claude Van Damme as a skin for Johnny Cage. For those who aren’t in the know, Cage was inspired by Van Damme’s appearance in Bloodsport, including the famous split punch.

The Van Damme skin is part of the Kombat Pack DLC for Mortal Kombat 1, which you can snag separately, or as part of the Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition.

Mortal Kombat 1 arrives on September 19 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.

With Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden locked in for a November 7 release, Focus Entertainment and developer DON’T NOD have dropped more gameplay footage from the upcoming action-RPG. The devs have also announced that pre-orders are now live, including the newly-announced Red Echoes Edition for those wanting something a little different from the Collector’s Edition.

In a world where the souls of the departed roam, you play as a couple of Banishers. Antea Duarte and Red mac Raith are experienced spirit hunters, entrusted with the daunting task of lifting a malevolent and ominous curse. After an ill-advised attack, Antea is killed, leaving her lover in solitude and profound despair. Torn between their vows to protect the living from malicious spirits and the nightmare of Antea’s condition, they’ll wander the eerie wilderness of North America to liberate her from her new plight. Whatever the cost.

Enter the lives of New Eden’s communities in a world plagued with supernatural creatures and ancient secrets. Combine Antea’s spiritual powers and Red’s arsenal to defeat and banish the souls that torment the living. Uncover secrets, navigate mysterious landscapes, and meet memorable but tormented characters whose fates rest in your hands.

Meanwhile, DON’T NOD and Focus have revealed the new Red Echoes Edition of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. While not quite as stacked as the Collector’s Edition, this edition of the game contains some interesting collectibles, including a leather-effect notebook illustrated with Red’s memories, an ink writing set, the game on any platform, and the Wanderer Set DLC.

The Collector’s Edition of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is still very much available on Focus Entertainment’s store, and includes the following:
